SECURITY OFFICERS

Full time and part time permanent positions are available immediately.

The successful candidate will provide security and protection services to Calgary’s newest fun, action-packed entertainment venue, responsible for the safety of patrons, staff, assets and gaming activities in our 96,000 square foot casino. Working at Cowboys Casino you will gain valuable crime prevention knowledge and experience in a unique and exciting environment that will further prepare you for a career in law enforcement.

Security Officers are required to enforce age/access provisions within the casino, conduct patrols, perform customer assistance, respond to emergencies and medical calls, enforce the Trespass to Premises Act and Criminal Code, and liaise with Calgary Police, Fire and EMS. In house and external training opportunities in security law, note taking, Pressure Point Control Tactics and Handcuffing, and First Aid/CPR are available.

This position requires individuals to work either day or night shifts ranging from a minimum of 6 hours per week up to 10-12 hours on a compressed work schedule of 4 days on and 3-4 days off.

This is an ideal position for students looking to work Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.

Candidates must be diligent, observant, and reliable, must be physically capable of job tasks and must be able to communicate in English verbally and in writing. Good report writing skills are essential. A police clearance will be required along with successful registration as security guards though the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission. Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent required. Extra consideration will be given to candidates with post-secondary education in law enforcement, security, or police studies, current First Aid or PPCT certification, previous security experience, or equivalent experience in a customer service environment. Demonstrated ability to use computer hardware and software will be an asset.

POKER DEALERS

Duties:

  • The Poker Dealer is responsible for dealing all poker games offered and according to all House and AGLC rules.

  • A poker dealer is also responsible for providing excellent customer service, developing and maintaining customer relations, and protecting the integrity of all poker games.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Valid “Police Background Check” (Completed within the last 3-months)

  • Valid “AML Certification” (Completed through the AGLC website)

  • Valid “Deal Us In Phase 1 Certification” (Completed thorough the AGLC website)

BLACKJACK, ROULETTE, AND CRAPS DEALERS

Duties:

  • Facilitate the game(s) they are assigned to for their shift.

  • Ensure the integrity of the game.

  • Following all procedures as set out in AGLC’s Terms and Conditions as well as house rules.

  • Money/Color changes for guests.

  • Waiting for acknowledgement from Pit Boss on money/color changes of more than $100.

  • Ensuring players bet within the posted table limits.

  • Escalating all discrepancies to the Pit Boss.

  • Provide excellent customer service.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Pass an in house training class (or have equivalent knowledge) and pass a table test before dealing a live game.

SLOT DEPARTMENT

Cowboys Casino is currently looking for a new team member to join the Slot Department. We are seeking someone who can consistently provide a high degree of prompt, considerate and courteous guest service by means of acknowledgement and accommodation.

Principal Activities & Responsibilities

• Offers exceptional Customer Service

• Interact effectively and professionally with individuals of diverse backgrounds and/or cultures.
• Verify paper fills and verifies/performs hand pays.
• Demonstrate proficiency and accuracy when performing transactions with money and/or filling out required paperwork.
• Respond to and accesses the condition of machines that indicate that service is needed.
• Provide accurate and professional service to guests in a timely and friendly manner.
• Assist other Team Members in accommodating guest service needs.
• Maintain appearance standards as outlined in departmental and AGLC policies.
• Maintain a consistent, regular attendance record.
• Other duties as directed by management.

 

*Must be available to work nights and from 7pm – 5am on weekends and holidays.

*Must be able to work in a physically demanding area with high volume, fast paced, multi tasking

 environment


Physical & Mental Demands

• Must be able to move up to 25 pounds.
• Must be able to stand or walk for 8 hours.


Minimum Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
